Do you ever wish you woke up more refreshed? Good sleep hygiene is a great way to achieve a more restful sleep. Sleep hygiene is not about brushing your teeth or showering before bed, it is a few simple steps as a lead up before bed.
1. Blue light reduction- By this I mean reduce your use of technology before bed, this includes laptops, phones, television and tablets
2. Exercising for a minimum of 30 minutes a day can help create a more restful sleep
3. Reduce your day time naps
4. Limit your caffeine intake before bed as it will increase your alertness
Herbal and vitamin supplements can also be of great use to help aid a restful sleep and achieve feeling refreshed in the morning. Magnesium can help relax and calm your mind before bed, it can also help with muscle cramps and reduce your stress levels during the day. Herbs such as Valerian, Ziziphus, Hops, Lavender and Passionflower can have a calming and sedative effect to improve sleep.
