The month of May is Asthma and Lung awareness month. At The Friendlies Chemist our pharmacists are available to ensure that those who suffer from asthma and lung problems are cared for.
If you are using an inhaler, are you also using a spacer?
There are so many benefits to using a spacer every time you use your inhaler. At The Friendlies Chemist we stock a large variety of spacers. However, some of the important features that are available to you are:
- If the spacer is dishwasher safe
- If the spacer needs to be hand dried or air dried
- If replacement parts are able to be ordered
- If the spacer is latex free
- If the spacer needs to be primed before using
The National Asthma Council of Australia recommends replacing your spacer every 12 months or as soon as a breakage occurs.
Our pharmacists recommend a spacer with MDI’s (metered dose inhaler) for many reasons. Excluding the features listed above, using a spacer is much more beneficial as it allows the product to enter the lungs instead of hitting the back of the throat and being swallowed.
Come into store to chat to one of our pharmacists and let them answer any of your questions concerning this topic.
