Tips for healthy hair from The Friendlies Chemist Castletown
​Is your hair thin and brittle or do you find it’s always falling out and takes ages to grow?
 
Many clients ask the question how can I get healthy strong hair? The truth is healthy hair can only grow when your body is nourished from the inside. So, here are some tips on how to maintain healthy hair. 
​My top tips for healthy hair:
 
1.Nourish your body with healthy foods
Include a wide variety of nutritional dense foods that provide an abundance of vitamins and minerals;
 
Vitamins & Minerals
  • Silica: leafy greens, cucumber, zucchini, mango and beans
  • Zinc: eggs, pecans, brazil nuts
 
Iron: Low iron levels are a common cause of hair breakage and thinning.
Try to include an iron rich meal at least twice a week or introducing an iron supplement under the guidance of a qualified practitioner.
 
Protein: You need amino acids from protein to construct strong hair cells
  • Chicken
  • Lean red meat
  • Pork
  • Eggs
 
Healthy Fats: Help to nourish your body’s cells & make your hair nice and shiny
  • Oily fish
  • Avocadoes
  • Seeds
  • Nuts
 
Water intake
Ensure you are drinking enough water daily to stay hydrated, aim for 2L per day.
 
Supplements

Sleep
